Greenpeace 2 - Flower
Process and Rationale
Visual Style
In order to present serious content, the graphical style has to be realistic. We decided to use 3D in imitate real flower in both visual and animation aspect. We rendered the flower model and animation from Maya, and then converted it into .flv to run on Flash. For the background, we transparent layers that fade up sequentially according to the flower growth.
Software Process

Problem encountered!
This piece we are having low speed problem due to the alpha tweening on the high quality background images, as well as the 3D prerendered animation for the flowers. The problem still exists even though we enabled “cache as bitmapdata” option. Finally, the work around solution is to change the OnEnterFrame function to a timer to do the motion tracking and the background tweening. In addition, tune down the JPEG quality from 80 to 14 in the Publish Settings. The result speed is acceptable but with a low image quality.
